Hunter Gather

The owners of Whistler Cooks, a catering company local to Whistler, wanted to open a brick-and-mortar restaurant. They had the idea and the location but needed a name, brand and identity to match. The husband-and-wife team wanted to bring locals and visitors together over food and beer. These pairings led our conceptual thinking. The name itself, Hunter Gather, captures the idea of foraging for regional ingredients and sharing them in a gathering place. We drew inspiration from wildlife native to the area and had them illustrated in pairs, which were used as environmental graphics and across merchandise. At opening, the eatery and taphouse gained immediate traction within the community. The owners have won numerous awards and it’s become a landmark for local culture, and as a result, a destination for visitors.
